50% Fewer Nematodes and 27% Increase in Yield on Artichokes in Peru
Date: January 2021 (summer)
Place: Arequipa, Peru.
Details: The Kyminasi Plant Booster (KPB) technology was installed on an artichoke field in the highlands of Peru.
Results
At the end of the science trial, the field treated with KPB technology achieved a total yield of 16 metric tons (mt), while the control field achieved a total yield of 13 mt. This is a 27% increase in the production of artichokes with KPB as compared to the control. In addition, KPB lowered the mortality of plants from 1.37% (control) to 0.68% (KPB). There were 50% fewer nematodes in the KPB field as compared to the control field. There was also a lower incidence of galls from grade 2 to grade 1 on the KPB plants as compared to the control plants. The reduction in pests on the KPB field allowed for greater health and vigor of the artichoke plants.
